Nancy Jane
Nancy Jane (she/her) is an educator, wilderness guide, and council
facilitator. She began her study of wilderness rites of passage in 1981 and
has been following this calling ever since. Nancy leads youth and adult
vision fasts, has pioneered wilderness rites of passage in school settings,
and currently also guides quests for Naropa University. Nancy has been
studying the rich, though challenging, terrain of collective and ancestral
trauma in order to wake up to all the ways trauma shows up our personal
emotional reactions and behaviors and the culture around us. As an elder,
she is equally fascinated by the beauty of working intergenerationally in
groups. Her intention is to listen deeply in support of others’ connection to
nature and spirit; to hold a strong container of safety and acceptance for
others; and to empower them in the full expression of who they are.
For many years a naturalist and forester, Nancy is also an author, an
editor, and currently adjunct faculty at Naropa University, where she
teaches in the graduate Ecopsychology program. She is certified in
Wilderness First Aid.Email: [email protected]
